The PIMM project, Pilot for Industrial Mobile communication in Mining is one of the nominees for the CIO Award The Digital Project of the Year.

Improved productivity and efficiency in production is the key for continued leadership in Swedish industry in all production disciplines. The ongoing digital revolution and the ability to incorporate new mobile communication into production systems will further improve competitive advantage for Swedish industry.

The PIMM project, Pilot for Industrial Mobile communication in Mining, will push the limits for state of the art in the combination of new mobile communication technologies and heavy industrial mining environment. The project will also result in business models for involved stakeholders in installation and operation of the infrastructure, gain in productivity, maintenance and safety. Several use cases will be demonstrated, among them automation, supervision and remote control of heavy machinery.

Project goal
Technology and business model have been assessed for an industry pilot with mobile communication for increased productivity and improved safety in mining applications.
