Einride showcases new teleoperation solution

At MWC 2019, Einride’s newly developed teleoperation system was demonstrated for the first time. Visitors could teleoperate a T-pod – Einride’s autonomous, all-electric truck – located in Sweden.

Voysys’ customer Einride has, in cooperation with Ericsson, showed a live teleoperation demo at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. In the demo, visitors to the Ericsson booth were offered to drive one of Einrides driverless trucks, 2000 km away in Borås, Sweden.

The demo was using the Voysys Streamer that made it able to send realtime video over 5G from the truck using Voysys proprietary latency-optimized streaming protocol. The Voysys Player at the MWC demo rendered video and overlay dynamic graphics to the six monitors, and steering control over 5G to the truck.

Voysys is also a firm that is a member of the network to Visual Sweden, a Vinnväxt initiative in Sweden.

“By implementing the new system, we can boost teleoperation performance by minimizing the cognitive load while at the same time enhancing efficiency of teleoperated parts of the automated transport. The upgrades we have done to the technology will rapidly improve the user experience and working environment of our tele operators, which in turn will benefit both overall efficiency and safety of Einride’s autonomous electric transportation (AET) system”, said Pär Degerman, Chief Technology Officer at Einride.
